Hi Kelly we just got in about an hour ago.  I got Maddie all settled.  She's here in the kitchen running all around and having a ball.  Thank you so much for her, I love her very much.  Also, you have beautiful, sweet children!  So friendly.

Thank you for the dog tour and I hope you have a good night. I will keep in touch and I will keep you informed on her.  Good night, Nan (Ursula/Dudley 2007)

Hi Kelly!  :)

Jill is settling in very well!  :)  She is just such a darling!  I am going to take her and my doxie Esther into my vet tomorrow to book spaying appointments.  :)  Winston, my other doxie, has been humping Esther even though he is neutered!   LOL!  I have to keep telling him to stay off his sister!!

What shots has Jill had?  I just don't want them to have to poke her if they don't have to.  :)

God Bless,

Dorie (Katie/Willie 2007)

She's here! No problem picking her up. She snuggled with Julian on the way home and she's met two of three cats and has snuggled with the dogs. She's eating dinner now after her nap and we're working on the potty training already. She's a scamp who can hold her own with the big boys. She is totally unsure of the cats though! Attached pictures. Thank you so much for our little darling!

Savannah loves her, she was so surprised and could not believe it!!!! My son and I put her in a nice Christmas box with a lid.
We brought her in the house, thinking she was waiting for my son to pick up some papers. My son called her and she walked in and she was looking at him and he indicated the box on the coffee table and the lid moved! She ran across the room and the lid was off by the time she got there and she was so excited and holding and loving the pup non stop. She was so surprised. Now this pup with Maggie, their other basset, play no stop. They are very good friends. The fact the pup eats everything! Has helped Maggie eat and gain weight, otherwise the food is all gone! They have named her, wait for it... Marsh Mellow Betsy Marly. She is really well loved and never left alone. The other day Savannah was riding a bike, the 3 yr old she looks after was riding after her, Marsh Mellow was running after the 3 yr old and their Cat Triggar was chasing Marsh Mellow. Cars stopped as it was very funny too see. I will give Savannah your e-mail so she cans end you pics! Ciao

We have been meaning to write. The long car ride back was incredible. Only a little whining an hour in, but it was because she wanted to go to the bathroom! No accidents, no car sickness. Mostly sat by our feet or in our lap, napping quietly. Things are going well. A couple problems with the housetraining, but I suppose that is to be expected – I think the fact that she realizes it is a lot colder outside than in has made that learning experience a little tougher. I have definitely established myself as a pack leader and ‘Tiger’ is listening as well as we could hope and is absorbing a lot right now. It took a couple of days to get her to eat regularly (and enough) but now she is taking 2 ½ cups divided over three feedings. Getting on the regular feeding schedule has helped with the housetraining as well. She is also doing fairly well with the crate and sleeps thru the night (most of the time). Tiger loves playing with a rabbit toy we bought and really loves the big Orvis bed we got for her. The vet was very happy with her and appreciated all your vets information, etc. Tiger is really wonderful and has already done great around my little nieces and has been very friendly to other friends and family she has come into contact with. Those who have dogs have commented on the quality of the pup – it is really exciting to me that both lay and semi-experts realize that we have such an outstanding puppy! I am looking forward to some formal training classes and puppy kindergarten in a couple of weeks. Attached is a photo. Thanks again.

Happy New Year. Issac, is now Luke. My daughter thought he looked like a Luke. He is doing great and checked out perfect with our vet. He loves kids. You can tell he had been used to young girls dragging him around. My daughter and her friends really enjoy him. He looks forward to his nap time when they finally give him a break. Thanks for doing such a great job with him and all your dogs. I also would have loved to been able to bring Willy home with me. I told Louise on the way home, it was a good thing she came with me to pick up Luke. I will send you some shots of Luke. Again, thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the breed.

Just wanted to let you know Ivy is doing wonderful. My daughter likes the name Ivy so we kept it. It seems to fit her so her full name will be (Tompkins Ivy League Girl).I can't thank you enough for such a wonderful sweet beautiful baby girl. She is just such a great basset and we all love her so much. She is doing very well with going potty out side. I'm crate training her and she is great in the crate when she is in it. It seems she is in someone one's arms more then anything and kisses she gets hundreds a day. We have most definitely bonded with her from the first day she arrived. She has two new doggie beds and if one of the other dogs is on her's she will just lay right down with them. She just fits in so well and the other dogs are great with her. We think she is going to be the greatest addition to our breeding line and to our family. Thank You so much for such a great basset...................(Sallie/Pup Pup puppy, "Ivy" 2007)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I thought I'd send you a few pics of Miss Dixie. She's doing great; she and Tater are inseparable. She's definitely a handful and keeps him on his toes :) Her face is getting a lot of tan--she gets prettier every day. I'll send you a family pic as soon as I take one.
Thanks again for everything. She's the perfect addition.

Happy New Year!

Sorry about not getting back with you about Irene, now Isabel. Well she is so adorable and sweet. We all love her and thanks so much. She is so tiny, thought
she would be bigger, but i guess i am use to big olde daisy mae. I've been in pain still and not feeling well with my back. Just been so busy trying to get things done for the holidays, as im sure you are too. Just wanted to let you know she is so playful and very good at nite. She is getting alot of love and has already so many toys she seems happy. I thought she would be so sad without her siblings, but she is doing really good with us here. We will watch over her and take very good care of her. Thank you so much and will keep in touch. We will try to get to the vets on Mon or Tues. We both have long hrs. on Monday so will try if not then Tues. for sure. Thanks again Michelle (Sallie/Pup Pup puppy, "Isabel" 2007)

Gracie Lynn's first day was great. She is very playful. She also ate a ton. She did wonderfully last night. I hardly heard a peep out of her. She went right in to her crate and only whined when she need to go outside. I have never had a puppy so used to a crate when I got them. I have always had to spend several nights on the floor next to the crate trying to get them used to it.  She fit into our home instantly. It was like she has been here forever. The girls love her to pieces. Fred is doing well with her too. He is still shy around her and doesn't quite know what to think. Last night they both played together for about 10 minutes. I am sure that in a week or two they will be inseparable.

I just wanted to say thank you for Gracie Lynn. I have never had a puppy who was better trained at this age. I appreciate all the hard work that you put into your puppies. It really shows. It makes my job as the owner that much easier. She is very comfortable in the house and not afraid on regular household noises. She didn't even think twice about the vacuum.  I wish all breeders were like you. If you have any litters in 2008 we would love to adopt one more basset. Gracie Lynn is a great addition to our home. We are looking forward to several years with her. Here are a couple of pictures of her and Fred. I will send you new pictures and updates and Gracie Lynn as she grows up. Thanks again for such a wonderful puppy.

I thought I would write, to fill you in, on what took place after Gus arrived.

Our daughter, Kristin, came home from work to find my niece, our oldest daughter, my grandson along with my husband and I standing in her apartment, waiting for her.  When she walked into the apartment, we ushered her to her bedroom telling her she had to get a look at the paint that was put on the wall and if she liked it or not.  She entered the room to see Gus's pictures taped up and the note my husband wrote on one of them, asking if he could come live with her, and she was totally confused, asking whose dog that was, etc.  Meanwhile, my grandson was in the living room yelling, Auntie come see your puppy.  She was like in a daze walking into the living room and up to the carrier where Gus was sound asleep.  She bent down, looked in, opened the door, saw Gus, pulled out the fleece with him on it and picked him up cradling him in her arms and crying, rocking him.  You can just imagine the tears that flowed that day.

She took him back to my older daughter's house, whom she is staying with until her apartment is completed.  The two of them slept together and she is very attentive to the point that everyone around her is busy on the apartment but her, she is in LOVE.

Thank you, again, for everything you did for us and putting up with our phone calls and questions.

We will be in touch. (Allie/Pup Pup puppy, "Gus" 2007)

Just wanted to let you know that Gavin decided not to change Harley's name. Harley just seems to fit him. Harley is doing great. He is such a friendly, passionate puppy. Harley loves everybody and everybody loves him. I wanted to let you know that, when Gavin became interested in a basset puppy, he was mainly interested in the basset breed because of the basset's looks and confirmation. When Gavin saw Harley's picture on your web site, he was impressed. I cautioned and reminded Gavin that a puppy's personality was just as important, maybe even more of an important consideration than the puppy's overall physical appearance. It was when you described Harley's personality that he decided to purchase Harley. It is so nice to have a puppy like Harley around. It didn't take him long to become one of the family. Harley arrived healthy and happy and he hasn't looked back. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of Katie's and Willie's puppies. Hopefully their puppies are characterized with similar emotional traits as Harley. Thanks, Joe (Little Bit/Pup Pup puppy "Harley" 2007)

Daisy has been great.  We are spending a lot of time in the yard with her (it's so relaxing actually) and she's beginning to love the yard.  When she's inside I do put her in her crate because she definitely didn't get the idea of housebreaking immediately and seems to go a lot!!  Her vet visit today went great.  He gave her her next shot, and tonight I'll give her frontline and tomorrow heartguard.  Hope you have a good beach trip.  Love, Becky (Little Bit/Pup Pup puppy "Daisy" 2007)

Good morning!

Hunter is doing great!!  He is really good at going potty outside, he traveled well on the way home too!  We are truly loving him!! We did keep his name Hunter and he is so cute.  I actually have a "baby" book in my purse to show everyone pics of him!!  Everyone loves him!  He spent half of the day on Friday at my husbands office with him and Emma.  We wake up once thru the night to take him out, and it's been a long time since he has had an accident.  I have read and people have told me they are pretty hard to house break, but knock on wood we have had great success.   I will keep looking at your web-site to see if you are expecting puppies.  (not that I am ready for a female, but hopefully one day!)

Will keep in touch!!

First let me say that Lolly arrived just fine.  About 15 min late, but her crate was dry and clean.  She wasn't scared at all, just rolled over and wagged her tail.

Second, I don't think I could have come up with a more appropriate name if I had raised her myself !  No slam on your pictures, but she's even better than I was expecting :o)

We're lucky that she got here, cuz at the time of arrival, it was 92* at the airport.  Even the cargo lady was surprised that SLC sent her.  Anyway, I'll give her a little time to get acclimated, but be ready for pics.  Looking at her and knowing what Ben has been throwing (with pet quality females), I can hardly wait to see what kind of puppies they will make.  You've done an excellent job, feel free to offer my email addy for a reference any time.

I have just got to tell you how much we love this little Lolly !  She is just about the sweetest thing !  We love to watch her and Marco (the cavy boy).  They explore and play, when one is hungry the other joins in at the food dish.  We have a huge pet bed in our family room, and when they both sleep on it, they cuddle right up to each other.  I even saw Marco 'grooming' her last night just before they fell asleep - talk about CUTE !!  The thing that we are all amazed with, is when we scoop her up and hold her like a baby, she just turns into a wet noodle.  We LOVE LOVE LOVE  HER !!  Her coat and ears are like velvet.  Again, I don't think I could have come up with a better name - she really is Ooo La La !  I'll get more pics of her soon and send them to you.  I just don't know what we're going to do when Marco leaves :o( they really seem to love each other.  I guess she'll just get more attention from us (is that possible?).  Anyway, keep me posted about upcoming litters.  I'm not sure when I can afford it, but another SMB is definitely on my list.

This is Peggy. Just wanted to let you know Otis is doing GREAT! I'm still trying to get a really good picture of him - he's so active, he just doesn't sit still long enough. I've taken so many, but want to get just the right one for you so you can really see how he's grown! Our vet just loves him to pieces and he knows she always has a biscuit in her pocket and tries to get it! His last appointment until a year from now was the weekend before last. He weighed 23.8 pounds and she's telling me he still has a LOT of growing to do! OH MY! He's great about doing his business outdoors and seems to always take care of his business first and then he knows he can have play time. He is such a love and such a CHARMER!!! Just doesn't like his picture taken! Ha! As of late, his little male hormones are kicking in if you know what I mean! Loves the big back yard - thinks it's his KINGDOM!!! He finally understands that every Friday night is his bath time and  has done really well with that, knowing that I have to groom him. Of course, the Big Smuck knows he gets a biscuit afterwards too! Ha! I'll keep trying on the pictures. If no good luck, I'll send you what I've got already!!!

Sophie is doing great and it didn’t take her long to get us trained.  She tumbled down our deck steps (3 steps) after we had her 3 or 4 days, and now she will not go down the steps at all.  We have to carry her down.  She doesn’t have a problem going upstairs in the house, but she won’t come down.  We’re still working on the housebreaking part and I will be glad when she is trained.  I took her to the vet May 11th, and she weighs 15lb. 2oz.  I think she has doubled in her length.  She has the sweetest face and she is very cuddly.  She is really good with our 10 month granddaughter and Saturday they played tug of war with Sophie’s pacifier and the baby just laughed and laughed.  It was so cute.

Everyone, of course, thinks Sophie is so pretty.  We have one customer, who apparently knows bassets, told us that we should show her.   He said she is marked so beautifully.  I’m sure that would take more time than I’m willing to put in to it.  But, she is very pretty.

Pat (Sallie/Pup Pup puppy "Sophie", 2007)

Thank you so much for Webster! He is a joy to have and absolutely beautiful! He really loves all the other dogs and seems to be very intelligent. I'm still working on the stacking, he gets a little better every day. He is really turning out to be all I had hoped for and more! Thank you again!

Thank you so much for Webster! He is a joy to have and absolutely beautiful! He really loves all the other dogs and seems to be very intelligent. I'm still working on the stacking, he gets a little better every day. He is really turning out to be all I had hoped for and more! Thank you again!
